Scripture Reading: Matthew 11:25-30

How are you doing with your fast? Perhaps you have experienced a few setbacks already. Do not give up, keep “showing up.”

Next week we will talk more specifically about some of the prayers Jesus prayed, but today our reflection will help us connect the WHAT and WHY of prayer. As you read Matthew 11:25-30, what theme or words are you first drawn towards? What sticks out? Does anything feel out of place?

Read the passage a second time. Do you notice anything different after the second reading? Did you hear something new? Spend 1-2 minutes silently listening to what the Holy Spirit is telling you.

Read the passage again, this time in this order: Verses 28-30. Verse 27. Verse 25-26. What correlation do you see between rest, knowing, and childlike faith?

When we acknowledge the WHAT behind our prayers, the WHY adds depth and strength to our faith.

Pray for the rest that comes from knowing, for God to show the “hidden things” we miss when we are not yoked to Jesus.
