Church Board Elections

The first response many think of when defining the purpose of the Church Board is, “those who provide oversite and accountability to the church, pastor and staff, general ministry, and financial stewardship.” However, Board members do much more than manage the church.

The Board serves as a connection between pastor and church–a conduit for the sharing of vision, mission, concern, needs, and direction. Board members support, care for, and work with the pastor and staff to move the church forward with purpose and intentionality. They also help create and sustain spiritual and relational vitality in the church and add community context, bringing a broader understanding of our changing culture and opportunities for ministry and evangelism.

Beginning this year, we are expanding our Board to nine individuals elected by the congregation. During the next three annual elections, we will elect three Board members, each of which will serve for three years. The Well is navigating important next “yes” moments in ministry in our changing and growing community. This new Board structure will provide leadership continuity, with six incumbent Board members serving year-over-year, while also electing three new members annually to allow for fresh voices and new leader development.

We ask that you be in prayer for our church in advance of these upcoming annual elections.
