The first response many think of when defining the purpose of the Church Board is, “those who provide oversite and accountability to the church, pastor and staff, general ministry, and financial stewardship.” However, Board members do much more than manage the church.

Our Board is composed of 8 individuals elected by the congregation. During our annual elections, we elect four Board members, each of which serves for two years. By overlapping these two-year terms, we elect half our Board each year which ensures leadership continuity year-over-year.

The Board serves as a connection between pastor and church–a conduit for the sharing of vision, mission, concern, needs, and direction. Board members support, care for, and work with the pastor and staff to move the church forward with purpose and intentionality. They also help create and sustain spiritual and relational vitality in the church and add community context, bringing a broader understanding of our changing culture and opportunities for ministry and evangelism.
